Myanmar Memories ♥

Its very random that suddenly i thought of blogging about Myanmar trip last july

Clearing some of my debts, its an overdued post

But a post worth writing, this im sure of =)

But it will be a little messy, because there are too many pictures and places, hopefully its alright ;)

Left LCCT at approx 6pm and reached Yangon International Airport at 8 pluss

My initial thought is that: Check in check in

But apparently the wifi there is limited. And so i thought i need to call back

But there's no line. Omg. im so doomed

Back to the hotel, called back home at the rate of USD 4 for 1 minute omg

But i should be grateful that i was able to call back before they worry about me

So we're stranded far from Malaysian civilization for one week.

Phone only functions as camera and alarm clock.. haha

The air-conditioned hotel room at Yuzana. Nice right. Fulfills the basic necessities of being comfortable =)

Buffet breakfast. Haha. The menu was the same for all days.

Fried rice, toasted bread, sausage, watermelon

At the very first day it tasted so delicious but after that.. we started to have phobia

Because even before getting in, we ad knew whats served

And we thought we would be blacklisted. Because..

We refilled our water in the tumbler with the water in the restaurant

The waiters were staring at us.

On the 1st day, they didnt say anything, but after that they started to limit the amount of water we filled

I guessed they must be thinking.. Wow Malaysians?

Actually, water is refillable all over the streets because apparently, they have associations who will subsidize water to the citizens so that everyone has the basic necessity of water.

But we preferred water from the restaurant. Haha.

Google it up if ur free, its the Yangon City Landmark. Spectacular

On the first day, we went to the market to change currency because what we had were USD

Its very weird because the exchange rate depended on how nice ur USD is

The nicer the banknote, as in, no wrinkles/folds-the more value you can get

So in a matter of minutes, we all became millionaires holding banknotes with many zeros

One thing we observed- the streets were red in colour.

Because of the leaf they were chewing.. hmm

After the market, we wandered around and our target was the pagoda we saw from our hotel room

There, we met our tourguide. Haha. He self-promoted himself and told us how much we could save if we hired him because he knew how to take bus compared to us taking taxi

And he said he could bring us to other towns for the price of Rm7 per person (if not mistaken)

He's very friendly and thoughtful. Btw, he's a lecturer on sem break wow

So when we reached temples, it was like attending history class o.O

And we really went to many temples.. too many to be calculated

Mode of transport there?

Tuttut car.. like Hadyai. The difference?

In Hadyai, one car can fit max 8?

But in Myanmar, it can sit many many many many people.. they are all over the car,

They are superb.

So when the car stops, be careful not to lean on the railings because you may feel foot climbing down

We began to get used to it, different country, different culture? =)

This motor- can fit all of us plus the tour guide and the driver.

Believe it or not, yes you should believe because it happened lol

The bus.. less crowded because its early

When its late, wow packed like sardines its lucky just to get on the bus forget about seats

Btw, observe the gas tank under the seat, the bus operates using it.

Luckily was wearing jeans haha

Food there?

Apart from fried rice, we too ate some Myanmar food =)

March 17 2012 Hours 0056

Weekend In Melaka =)

Today is FRIDAY.. tgif and im bored

Stayed at home the whole day because i have lots to do

Two papers next week plus an assignment due on tues

Not to mention thesis writing and data arrangement

Woke up super early to watch on call because the line is faster

And partially cz i thought, after watching, i can have the whole day to do my stuff

But plans, are plans. Something unexpected popped up.

There are visitors in my house cz my housemate is cooking lunch

I cant be studying like a geek while they are partying in the living room

So i thought, i should shift my notes and study in my bedroom

Which is on my bed. Its 1215pm. And when i woke up, its 400pm. SWT

I woke up being more tired than i was before

And the story goes on... and now at 1030pm, im here blogging LOL

My 2nd visit to Melaka and my 1st was approx 8 years ago

Woke up super early bcz according to the schedule planned by ceo,

we're departing at 8am and true enough dailou came and fetch me at 8sharp

Thanks for being our driver, appreciated =)

First stop is at Melaka town to eat chicken rice ball but we got lost

In the end we reached but we're scared of the crowd so we went down to queue while they got the parking tickets..

..and ended up with this instead of the rm5 one day coupon lol :P

I thought the chicken was going to be our lunch but apparently i was wrong o.O

Next stop: a famosa and st paul's church

Actually we snapped many pictures there but i hesitate to upload because i look so stupid oh well~ haha

Next: Our LUNCH.. at donald and lily's

Googled it up and just knew its located at Jalan Tun Tan Cheng Lock Melaka

But we were late so some food were sold out

What we had was: Rojak and Fish

Laksa and ponteh chicken

Cendol is also served =)

Cool and refreshing on a hot sunny day

Also not forgetting its mee siam, which was a takeaway on the 2nd day because it was sold out on the 1st day

Next, we stopped by Dataran Pahlawan and later Nadeje Cake House nearby for its awesome layered cakes

There are many varieties of layered cakes sold there, varieties available in their website, just google and it wil bring you there

We had 6 different varieties =)

Next destination to Klebang Coconut Shake

Its a blend of ice cream on the top, together with coconut juice, flesh, and ice =)

We had nasi lemak and mee there too.. wow we are superb

Next, to Jonker Street for our dinner..

It was raining slightly and the place was crowded

So many people queuing and it is self service

What i wanted to eat was sold out so i had to choose another

By the time i finish queueing all the others are halfway done with theirs zzZ

Wandered in Jonker Street and bought souvenirs from Sam Suk Gong

Rested there while waiting.. and ceo efficiently calculated and cleared all debts of the day

And fish slept and was probably in dreamland when we woke her up :P

Watched the aunties and uncles singing on stage as we wandered around

And for supper, we had satay celup

I didnt feel like eating anymore so i didnt eat, but it sure smelt nice and tempting hmm

Thanks Ivan for the hospitality and accomodation but im sorry i scared yy.. fion's fault kayyy lol

Slept till super late until its time for lunch omg

So was super hungry when we went for satay..

Maybe i was hungry but its really delicious

More delicious than Kajang satay..

But i was afraid they say i ate like a pig, so i tried to control my appetite hehe

Plus we were going to have lunch at Ivan's house
